Question: Have you taken advantage of the annual A to Z Challenge in terms of marketing, networking, publicity for your book? What were the results?

Ut oh... No, but there's a reason for that. Something about my overused excuse--health. See, I've never even attempted the A to Z Challenge. I know my limits and I know I can't even think of that many posts in one month or even a theme. Add that I don't have a book to market, and you have a hive of reasons for not even being a member of that challenge.

Okay. Okay. I know your wondering what's keeping me in the IWSG? I know I'm not good at visiting around. That makes me sorry at supporting all of the rest of you. I can only blame my lack of focus and energy. I'll try to do better.

But, I do have some stellar links for you this month. :-)

Great link: Check out Jennifer Johnson-Blalock's "Six Tips for Sending a Requested Manuscript."

And "STORY GENIUS--for Pantsers."

And one more! "How to Write a Novel".

I couldn't leave this out--"Writer Guilt vs. Writer Shame."

And one more--I'm on a roll--Nathan Bransford offers another good post of queries--"Summarizing Through Specificity"

Next Post: April's Book Pusher Mini Reviews, of course!
(Psst! I might not be very good at other things, but I am good at pushing books.)

  1. Hi Zan Marie! I'm making the rounds, starting a little early for IWSG as I'm co-hosting. I can't imagine taking on the A to Z Challenge either! I'd fall apart in no time. I'll be checking out some of your links. Thanks!

  2. I had to click on that How to Write a Novel link. It just seems so simple when laid out that way. But I've been struggling for years with this raising the stakes business...

  3. Hah! Lack of focus... I'm hearing you there. And health is a truth, not an excuse. (Says the pregnant lady.) We do what we can when we can, eh? And leave the rest to those who have more energy/time etc.

    1. Thanks for the vote of truth! I needed to here that "And health is a truth, not an excuse."
{{{hugs}}} for you and the coming little one!

  4. I find you wonderfully supportive. There are many amazing initiatives out there, but often the downside is they take time away from writing. And holding on to writing time is tough enough.

  5. Hi there, Zan Marie! I'll second what Rose said above. Blogging and tweeting could easily eat up my writing time if I let them. Let's hope that by next year, you and I are both marketing our published books! Happy scribbling.

  6. We can only do what we can do. Family and writing are most important, all the rest, we do what we can. I'd much prefer you write and get your stories out in the world!

  7. I agree we do what we can do. I spend way too much time doing this instead on my own writing, so I think you choice is the best one.
