IWSG: Who Is Supporting You?

{Note to followers: if you want an email when a new post goes up, go the the left column and subscribe for emails. Thanks.}

Insecure Writers Support Group
 Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time.

Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

Our Twitter hashtag is #IWSG

The awesome co-hosts for the the September 2 posting of the IWSG will be Julie Flanders, Murees Dupé, Dolorah at Book Lover, Christine Rains, and Heather Gardner!

Who is your main supporter, cheerleader, etc.?

While writing is initially a job for one, we all need someone on the sidelines who helps us stay on track. They might do any of the following:
  • line editing
  • beta reading
  • feeding us when we're starving
  • All Of The Above
My supporter is my hubby. So in honor of our 38th anniversary on Friday, let me say:

Only you know where all the real-life bones are buried in my Cherry Hill. You're the best plot-twist generator known to writerdom. The meanest, most horrifying twists come from your fertile story mind. I know to sit up and take notes when you say, "What if?" I thank you from the bottom of my storyteller's heart for all the help you give me. {{{{hugs}}}}

Next Week: Are you in the mood for Romance? ;-)

  1. Happy anniversary! It's so wonderful you have such a supportive husband. My husband is my tech guy. He takes care of my website for me. Have a great IWSG day! :)

  2. Hi,
    Congratulations on your wedding anniversary and that is a very good question. Writers need a support line.

    1. Thanks, Patricia! I thought it was a good way to do IWSG and recognize my honey.

  3. Happy anniversary!
    My wife is my greatest supporter. I never would've become an author if not for her.

  4. Happy anniversary! He sounds like the best life and writing partner for you!

  5. Happy Anniversary!

    My wife is my biggest supporter. She's also by far my harshest critic. But she's generally right.

    It's a complicated relationship.

    IWSG September Post

    1. Being there to critique and ask 'what if' is a blessing they give us. Complicated isn't boring, right?

  6. That's so cool that you have your husband there supporting you and giving you ideas. Wow! I'm envious. My family thinks it's "neat" that I write but when the box of my books arrived at my house, I opened it alone and no one was really that interested. They just don't get it, I guess; but I can't lie and say it doesn't hurt a little. They can be enthusiastic-ish at times, but really, I wish I had the support you speak of.

  7. Happy Anniversary Zan Marie. May your day be filled with happy celebration and quiet connection. I too am lucky to have a husband who supports my writing. I also have online writing support including one of my favourite cheerleaders--you!

  8. I am! My mom and husband come in second. But I always have been my biggest cheerleader, talking myself through even the toughest writing challenges.

    1. Good for you, Stephanie! Believing in our stories is the first step.

  9. Happy anniversary! Hmm, I might need to ask for his help in being more mean!
