Goodreads!

Aside from all the news that Amazon purchased Goodreads last week (see HERE) and whether that's a good or bad thing, I need help navigating all the options at Goodreads.

I joined recently and I know how to post books, make bookshelves, and rate books. Other than that, I'm still trying to figure it out. So, I thought I'd ask for you for help.

Do you use the following?
The widgets for blogs come in a lot of varieties:
  • custom
  • update
  • grid
  • My Books
  • shelf badge
  • email footer, etc.
Do you have any suggestions about the settings, emails, or feeds?
What is Listopia?

As you can see, I'm a novice when it comes to Goodreads. ; )

What's your favorite thing about Goodreads?

I'm Zan Marie Steadham on Goodreads...and I love new friends. Let me know if you are a member of Goodreads and we'll share a few recommendations. ; )

  1. I'm a casual GoodReads user, so I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help to you. But I will go look you up so we can be 'friends' :)

    1. Thanks, Lara! I think Goodreads could be a major time drain if I don't work smart. See you around the bookshelves. ; )

  2. Zan Marie, I've been with GoodReads for almost a year now. Have you linked this blog to the site yet?

Listopia is a mystery to me as is most of the bells and whistles. Have you made a PDF version of your books downloadable from them? It's another avenue for sales.

Have you joined any groups? There are tons of them. Stay within your genre.

I chose the digest option. It's easier than keeping up with all the groups I'm in. Look for large groups with the most activity. The more you post within a group the better they know you and your books.

I just noticed I'm #1 on your blog list! Thanks!

    1. Jo, you're welcome!
I think I'll have to look into all of this more closely. I do know Goodreads and my FB page are linked. Just how do I link the blog... I'll have to get on that one.

  3. I'm a member I'll send you an invite! I don't use it to full advantage. Mostly I use it to keep track of books I want to read, have read, and eventually I want to create a list of what books I already own.

    1. Sara,
That's about what I'm doing now. I'm going to look into Jo's recommendations though. See you around, too.

  4. Ooh, very good idea for a post. I'm not much help, but I'm looking forward to learning from your commenters! I'm on Goodreads, but really don't do much because I'm still so annoyed that I can't sync my LibraryThing accounts with it - I feel like Goodreads doesn't truly represent my library, so I don't really use it :-(

    1. That's a problem. I've put on all the books I've done mini-reviews of, but my total library isn't there. And it may never be. ; )
