The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shockproof crap detector.
If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.
I believe more in the scissors than in the pencil.
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.

If it takes a lot of words to say what you have in mind, give it more thought.
