Chugging Along...

I started today with only 11,338 words in my mini-NaNo quest. Reality says that I won't even make the 30,000 goal we set in out Mini-NaNo thread on the Forum. Add the fact that I've not been writing very much for the last week--only 388 words--and didn't write at all on four days of the last 9 and you can't expect much.

This morning I had a reality check and counted how many I could conceivably write in the last four days. A thousand isn't too big and if I can power through for the days remaining in the week, I can hit what I'm calling a "micro-mini-NaNo" total of 15,000.

Happily I can report that I've already added 1050 to the total today, so I'm on my way.

12,338 and counting.

How are you doing?
Are you going to reach the magic number of 50K or will you join me with a lower, but achievable goal?

Keep Writing...the month isn't over yet! ; )

  1. I'm not actually signed up for Nano. However, I haven't been making much progress in my writing goals this November. I just had too many things going on. I do plan on writing some this weekend though or maybe in the evenings after I go to the gym.

    1. Good luck, Michael! It's been really hard lately for me between the holiday and illness.

  2. I'm dying. I haven't written in two weeks and won't be able to until friday! My total for November is still under 10K. Maybe friday I'll find some massive inspiration and write another 6k in one day.

    2. Well, cross your fingers. ; ) Things are happening around home that make it harder. I keep telling myself to hang in there for three more days.

    1. Arnel,
Sometimes Real Life takes over and there's nothing we can do about it. Hang in there.

  5. NaNo was a bit of a bust for me this year, but I _did_ write and I'm going to be happy about that.

You're making progress as well, and I know you can hit 15K!

    1. It's Friday morning and I lack 737 to do it. If I can find something to stir my words up... ; )

  6. From your latest update above, it sounds like you are almost there Zan Marie. My opinion is that any extra words we get written because of Nanowrimo are all a bonus. I cheated at it and used the energy to write every day, which I did, with the exception of Thanksgiving week, when I got distracted with cooking.

    1. That's how I use it, too. The energy of so many writers all trying for the same thing--new words--is really inspiring.

      And I did make it at 15,013. ; )

  7. I already miss my story! I love the way things like NaNo force me to buckle down and focus. I don't necessarily need an agent, since I could self publish, but I know I need one because I'm so bad at self-discipline; I need outside deadlines!

    1. Outside deadlines work for me, too. When I wrote my master's thesis with its six year official deadline, my husband set monthly deadlines for me. It worked. ; )

  8. Thanks for the great book reviews! Always ice to get someone else's take on a book. Congrats on NaNo! Sounds very productive!
