When I started writing seriously in 2005, I had no clue what the job would involve beyond putting words on paper. I had no clue. Since then, I have written and published two devotional books and two church history books. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to do some amazing things. I joined Carrollton Creative Writers Club in March 2007 and the CompuServe Books and Writers Forum in November 2008. Both groups have encouraged and taught me to be a better writer. I began blogging in June 2009. Here are some photos to mark my journey in this exciting, fun endeavor.

Decatur Book Festival September 2009
with my favorite author, Diana Gabaldon
A writer must read and I can’t think of a better place to start than Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. Along with creating some of the most amazing characters and plots, Diana is generous with her time and helps other writers often. She is also a member of the Forum. In fact, it was through her books that I learned of that wonderful place where writers meet and help each other improve.

In October 2009, CCWC started the reading program Local Voices at the Carrollton Cultural Arts MeccaFest, a cultural arts festival held every year at the Cultural Arts Center. Here I am reading some of my slice of life pieces in 2009 and a snip of Friendly Fire in 2010.

Georgia Author of the Year Awards

I was nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year Awards in the Inspirational category for An Easter Walk. Check out the table, third book from the left on the top row.

Temple Founder's Day with T. L. Gray

With a fan at MeccaFest 2010
Once you have books to sell, you have to work at that, too. And it’s hard work.  In the fall of 2010, I was busy spending good quality time in tents at three festivals—Villa Rica Gold Rush, Temple Founder’s Day, and MeccaFest. Believe me, it was HOT the first two—95 and 97 degrees respectively. All were good for sells, but I was worn out by the time they were over.

Momma's Little Helpers--Max and Casey

It’s not all awards and festivals though. Most of my days are spent in front of the computer at work. And the puppy boys don’t always like it.
Momma, aren't you done yet?
